Where we work

Plumbing marketing in Prince Edward Island

PEI is Canada's smallest provincial market, and everybody knows somebody who used you. Marketing here is about protecting and showcasing a reputation, with a small, precise ad budget for urgent work.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Prince Edward Island is a small market where reputation is everything. Charlottetown and Stratford, Summerside, Cornwall and Three Rivers hold most of the population, but a plumbing company here usually serves a big piece of the island. In a place this size, one bad experience gets talked about at the hockey rink. A steady record of good ones gets talked about too. That's why reviews and the Google Business Profile lead most PEI plans, with paid search used sparingly.

The answer first: on PEI, we confirm your licensing details with you and link the provincial government page that issues them before anything goes on your website. We couldn't load the province's inspection pages when preparing this page, so we don't summarise them here. When we build your site, we check the current official page and link it.

The principle is the same everywhere we work. State only what you hold, show it plainly, and let customers check it at the source.

Charlottetown and Stratford

The capital area is the island's main market. Even here, competition on paid search is light compared with mainland cities, so a focused Google Ads budget can cover urgent jobs without much waste. What we'd build:

  • service pages for your main jobs, each with Charlottetown and Stratford context,
  • a profile with every service listed and hours that reflect any emergency coverage,
  • a review routine on every completed job.

Summerside and Prince County

Summerside is the second centre, with Prince County's farms and towns around it. Plumbing companies here often cover long distances. An honest list of the communities you serve, plus clear call-out terms, keeps calls realistic.

Kings County and rural PEI

Three Rivers, Souris and the rural east are small markets where the profile is often the whole website as far as customers are concerned. Make it complete: services, service area, real photos and answers to common questions.

Seasonal homes and cottages

Cottages and other seasonal properties are part of the island's housing. If you open or close cottages, winterise lines or check vacant homes, that's a service worth its own page and its own seasonal campaign. Owners often search from off-island before they arrive. Our campaigns service covers how we time and run one.

Island winters are snowy and cold, softened somewhat by the surrounding Gulf. We set timing from your own call history.

A worked example for a small island market

An illustration, not a client result. A Charlottetown company with 40 Google reviews, most of them over two years old, starts asking every customer after every job. At about 70 jobs a month and a 12% response rate, it gains roughly 8 reviews a month. Within a year it has well over 100 reviews and the most recent reviews in its map pack. No ad spend is involved. The results from our HVAC work show how consistent review and profile work pays off over time.

Off-season and off-island owners

PEI's quieter months are a good time to build things that pay off later: a refreshed profile, new job photos, a few honest service pages and a maintenance plan you can offer customers before next winter. Off-island property owners also need a clear way to reach you, since they may be calling from another province. A short page explaining how you handle access, keys, photos of completed work and invoicing for absent owners makes you easy to hire from a distance. We write it once, link it from your profile, and refer to it in any seasonal campaign aimed at cottage owners.

How we'd approach PEI

  1. Profile and review routine first.
  2. A lean website with your main services and the communities you serve.
  3. A small paid search budget for urgent jobs only.
  4. A seasonal-property campaign if you offer that work.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth paying for ads on PEI?

A small budget is often worth it for urgent jobs like no hot water or a burst pipe, where people search rather than ask around. For everything else, reviews and your profile usually do more for the money.

Who regulates plumbing on PEI?

Licensing and inspection questions belong with the provincial government. We'll link the official page on your website once we've confirmed it with you, and we never give compliance advice.

What tax applies to your fees on PEI?

15% HST as of October 2026.
