Most plumbing websites lose calls in the first five seconds on a phone: the number is hidden, the page is slow, or the visitor can't tell whether you serve their town. We build phone-first sites, repair the ones worth keeping, and wire in call tracking. That way paid search, local SEO and your reviews can be judged on the jobs they produce.
Who it's for
This suits plumbing companies whose site gets traffic but few calls, whose site was built by a relative or a template service years ago, or who can't tell whether last month's best job came from Google, a truck wrap or a referral.
What a phone-first plumbing site includes
- The number everywhere. A tap-to-call button in the header on every page, repeated after each section, and never hidden behind a menu.
- One page per job type, written about the customer's problem: no hot water, a slow drain, a running toilet, low pressure, a leaking shut-off.
- Area pages for the towns you serve, written to the standard in our service-area guide.
- Trust content from you. Your licence details linked to the issuing body, an insurance statement you've confirmed, real photos of your vans and crew, your warranty terms in your own words.
- Speed. Light pages, compressed images and no heavy sliders. Most plumbing searches happen on a phone, often in a basement with one bar of signal.
- Clear hours and coverage, including whether you take emergency calls at night and on holidays.
- Plain pricing language where you're comfortable with it, such as diagnostic fees or call-out charges. Hidden fees revealed at the door cost you reviews.
What we never add: fake reviews, stock photos passed off as your crew, countdown timers, or claims you can't back up.
Call tracking: knowing what works
Every channel gets its own tracking number: Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Local Services Ads, the Google Business Profile, the website's organic traffic, and offline sources such as a van wrap or a mailer. Calls forward to your normal line, so nothing changes for your office.
Each call is then tagged as booked, not booked, existing customer, wrong number or spam. Your office can do the tagging, or we can review recordings if you choose to record. That tagging is what turns "we got 90 calls" into a line such as "Google Ads booked 31 jobs at $118 each" (an illustration, not a client figure).
Missed calls show up in the same report. If you want an automatic text sent to callers you couldn't answer, our sister practice plumber.chat specialises in missed-call text-back and AI text response, with consent wording built for Canada's anti-spam law.
Timeline
- Rebuild: about four to eight weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on page count and how quickly we get your photos and licence details.
- Repair in place: conversion fixes in two to three weeks, then ongoing tests.
- Call tracking: usually live within the first two weeks, before any ad budget goes up.
How we measure it
- Call conversion rate per page (calls ÷ visits), split by mobile and desktop.
- Mobile load time on the key service pages.
- Calls by channel and booked-call rate by channel.
- Bounce rate on service pages, as a warning sign rather than a goal.
These feed the monthly report and the cost-per-booked-job view explained in our guide. Website terms by plan are on the pricing page.
Mistakes to avoid
- Making a web enquiry the main action instead of the phone. Plumbing customers in a hurry call, and anything slower adds a day of delay to an urgent job.
- One tracking number for everything, which tells you nothing.
- Tracking numbers on your Google Business Profile as the primary number without keeping your main line as an additional number. It confuses directories.
- A site you don't own. If a vendor holds the domain or hosting hostage, you lose years of work when you leave. We build in your name.
- Licence claims you haven't checked. List only what your issuing body confirms, and link to it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new website, or can you fix mine?
Often we can fix it. If the site is fast enough, you control the hosting and the pages can be edited, we improve it in place. If it's slow, locked to a vendor or built around a single page, a rebuild is usually cheaper over a year.
Does call tracking hurt my local SEO?
Not when it's done properly. Your main number stays on your Google Business Profile and in directories, and tracking numbers swap in for visitors from specific channels. That keeps your details consistent.
Do you record calls?
Only if you choose to and with your own consent policy in place, including a notice to callers. Recordings help train the office and catch missed bookings, but the decision and the wording are yours.
What does a website cost on your plans?
That's set by the plan in your proposal. On Elite you get 50% off Trades.Agency website design packages; on Enterprise, the website design and build (any package) is included free. The pricing page has the plan details.
